There are no hard-and-fast rules for how to grieve the loss of a loved one. Sometimes people choose to host a celebration of life in addition to or in lieu of a funeral. Consider your feelings and the personality of the deceased.
What to Expect
When you attend a celebration of life, you are there to celebrate and share fond memories of the deceased. A funeral is typically a somber and subdued event. A celebration of life can be a party or just a way to get everyone together to celebrate the deceased person’s life.
What to Wear
Since a celebration of life is less traditional than a funeral, the attire will be based on a number of factors, including the location and wishes of the person planning the event. In some cases, you may be expected to wear traditional funeral attire, but more often you’ll be asked to wear something more casual and upbeat.
